- What age campers attend Camp China?
Camp China programs are designed for student campers who are rising Kindergarten – 8th grade. Older children can apply to become counselors. Also, we have preschool level programs for siblings of older campers attending Camp China.
- What do registration fees include?
Registration fees include all camp programs, meals, and t-shirts. Any pre-camp programs have a separate registration fee. For some "Special" parent sessions, Camp China may impose a small fee. This fee is to cover speaker's cost to attend our camp.
- When should we arrive?
Camp China officially opens registration on Friday afternoon around 3:00.
- Should I stay Sunday night?
Yes! Sunday night after dinner is our talent show and closing ceremony – including Dragon Parade. Registration fees include breakfast on Monday.
- What is counselor / student ratio?
The ratio varies each year. Our goal is to keep the groups small so that we keep a 4:1 student/counselor ratio.
- What should I wear?
Black Mountain, NC is in the mountains and has varied weather patterns. Days are temperate and comfortable. Evenings may experience cool weather. A light jacket and insect repellent may be needed for evening outdoor activities.
- What other clothes should I bring?
Depending on your activity preference, you may need a swimsuit or athletic clothes for tennis, basketball, or volleyball. The Blue Ridge Assembly also has many hiking paths than range from intermediate to advanced level.
- What are the bedrooms like?
The lodging facilities range from motel-like rooms to dorm rooms with private baths to family-style lodges with shared baths. Our camper families all have different preferences. Many returning families prefer the family-style lodging that allows them to congregate in a home-style environment. Remember, this is camp!
- Is there something for non-Asian siblings?
Siblings are encouraged to attend. Camp China is a family-oriented camp that includes activities and programs for all campers within the age range.
- What do parents do during the day?
There are adult-only programs and multiple opportunities to help with camper classes and activities.
- Do the rooms have television?
No.
- What is the Talent Show?
The Camp China Talent show is a showcase for all types of our children's talents. We have seen piano recitals, original poetry, art, dance, songs, martial arts, and just about anything the kids feel is a talent.
